Player registration

Almost all tournament organisers will ask for squad information such as full name (as listed on passports) and known names, date of birth, birthplace, kit size, height, weight, playing history etc.  A template is available and includes questions that may be asked as part of the player’s biography. A further template available here, Player Profile may assist with the collection of medical and injury data. You may need to add or delete some information as required by tournament organisers, visa offices and hotels for example.

You will likely be asked for headshots for each of your squad members. Where possible choose a plain background and cover any sponsor branding to enable the headshots to be used over a couple of years. Copies of passports are also going to be requested and should be retained for hospitals, security purposes and so you can keep a record of whose passport is going to expire shortly!

The media managers of elite events may request squad members biographies, phonetic spellings of player names and recorded pronunciations. You could make this a fun activity at a training session or have senior players buddy up with rookies to help them through the process.

Gather as much information on your squad as you can, as soon as you can, and it will save chasing the details when you are up against a deadline!
