Equipment

In addition to training balls, discussed in the last section, there will be certain equipment that your team will need to travel with. Shipping equipment can be costly, environmentally unfriendly and may have to be sent well in advance of the Team. Before you book the courier service, gather a list of requirements and check it against what is going to be provided on site, what can be hired locally and what can be bought at a similar value to the cost of shipping.

  • Medical equipment
    • Your medical team will, most likely, want to travel with a certain amount of equipment and medical supplies. It is important to check what supplies can easily move through customs / or on flights to avoid fines and/or losing valuable supplies.  A medical checklist will help here.  Be clear on what medications can be brought into the country you are travelling to
  • Training equipment
    • Tackle shields, tackle bags, bibs, extra balls, cones, agility poles may be required.
  • Media backdrops, sponsor activation equipment
  • Radios may need to be licensed in the particular country you are visiting.
  • Team provisions
    • Snacks, water bottles and carriers, isotonic gel or powder, additional match/training kit, blenders, rice cookers, toasters may be included.

Working with a shipping agent may help and you may be asked to send to a storage facility rather than to your destination hotel. Ensure you make your host aware of the size of the shipment and date of arrival, which will help with a smooth transition of equipment.
