In this section we will look at the main tasks within the role of Team Manager.
Knowledge transfer
Whether you are a new Team Manager or new to the particular team you are working with, try to gather as much information as possible from existing members of the management team. You are trying to build your stock of information about the squad members without having to repeat the questions.
Make sure your reporting manager and/or other operations staff within the Union know where you keep your squad information so they can access it easily, should you be unable to fulfil your duties for any reason. Document your progress and use easily understood templates that can be shared with tournament staff and other key contacts such as embassies who may issue visas, national anti-doping agencies etc.
Top Tip: Watch your General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules here! If you operate within the European Union, make sure everyone has consented to the Union sharing their information!
