Matchday in-stadia

During the match day, once in-stadia, you should: 

  • Test full system functionality and raise any issues with Technical Guarantee 
  • Ensure comfort with your role in the Disaster Recovery Protocol (DRP) 
  • Integrate with Broadcast 
    • Enter truck and introduce self / team to the production team (director, producer, replay operators (EVS) and vision technicians)
    • Ensure Broadcast are receiving the correct feeds 
    • Run through processes during facilities checks (FACS) 
    • Align on communication and language 
  • Integrate with the TMO
    • Hold a pre-match briefing to discuss/confirm the following: 
      • TMO personal and operational preferences and how they work/want to work 
        • Communication style used 
        • Language commonalities 
        • Match Referee’s behaviour and communication style 
        • Your own game knowledge and experience level 
        • How to review specific incidents 
        • Preferred processes including speeds and angles 
        • Specific incidents or any unique operatoring requirements 
        • Use of the delay screen and test, check, confirm delay duration 
        • Potentially important laws or players 
        • Thresholds for foul play 
        • Timing of incident presentation 
        • How much operator input is wanted and in what format e.g. injury sweeping 
        • Any further useful information from the Match Officials’ pre-match briefing 
      • Explain technical aspects (video replay system, referee communication system) 
      • Confirm camera coverage and plan 
      • Confirm specific scenario processes 
      • Confirm job role expectations for both TMO and TMO Operator.
