Grounding 

  • Whether or not the ball was grounded clearly and whether it was done before/on/over the try line 

Negating factors 

  • Must be within the last attacking phase of play for specific moments such as knock forward, in touch etc. The TMO is responsible for determining this. 
  • If the ball has not been grounded, then other factors may help to influence restart options. 
  • A large variety of incidents can fall under negating factors such as - a foot in touch, needing a split screen, or a potential offside in the build-up.
