Sending Offs
- When a player is sent off they shall be removed from the game immediately and shall not return to the match.
- Where a 20-minute red card is being used and is applicable the replacement player must not enter the match until the next time a replacement could be made (see above) after 20 minutes of match time has elapsed.
- If the sent off player is a front row player, at the next scrum the team shall be asked if they can continue with contested scrums. If a replacement is required by the team to ensure the team can continue with contested scrums, then this replacement must not happen until the next scrum. Discussions on the team’s options should happen as soon as possible after the sending off.
- Players who have been sent off may sit with other replacements but may not go onto the field of play during the game or act as watercarriers.
