Match Recorder
The Match Recorder completes and is responsible for the administrative duties associated with the Technical Zones in addition to recording the events of the match.
Communication
The Match Recorder will not have direct communication with the Match Referee, but will have a listen-only device provided.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining records of all player movements (and their times) to ensure compliance with Law, including:
- replacements (permanent and medical)
- temporary suspensions
- sending-offs
- Keeping score of the match in a timeline format
- Keeping a record of actual scorers (team, number).
Recorders must have completed all necessary training on the application being used for recording the match. Where an application is not being used then the information must be recorded in a clear and legible paper-based timeline format.
Hierarchy
The Match Recorder reports to the Sideline Manager.
For Sevens events, appointing a separate Scorer to record scoring events may be practical to reduce the workload on the Match Recorder. The Scorer can sit with the Recorder or in an elevated location with a better view of the field of play.
