On the floor and four more

“On the floor and four more” is a handy way of understanding where the blood loss may be coming from. Bleeding could be coming from the following areas:

  1. The chest.
  2. The abdomen.
  3. The pelvis.
  4. In a limb from a broken bone.
  5. On the floor – bleeding from a visible wound.

The most important aspect of considering bleeding is recognising it and getting help. There is very little you can do on your own. People with internal bleeding often need an operation so ensuring safe transport to hospital for further assessment is the most important step.
