Snake Bites
The risk from snake bites varies around the world. Assume all snake bites are venomous. Note the time of the bite, and if seen the snakes appearance, this may help identify the correct antivenom.
- Help the casualty to a resting position, reassure them and to keep the bitten limb.
- Call for emergency help.
- Place a pad on the bite and apply a pressure bandage on top, extending up the limb as far as possible.
- Immobilise the limb with splintage.
- Monitor and record the casualty’s vital signs while awaiting help to arrive.
