How analysis fits into the coaching process
By the end of this section, participants should be aware of where performance analysis fits into the coaching process, and the key types of analysis.
Performance analysis has become an integral part of the coaching process in recent years. The role of the analyst is to measure performance through a consistent process whilst providing a learning environment for players to learn and develop. Within this learning environment, analysts assist in preparing teams and athletes for competition.

In essence, the role of performance analysis is to work with coaches to review past or current performance in order to improve future performance. This analysis can be undertaken in a number of forms and fed back to the coach, athlete, or team through various media.
