Tools

The tools available to a performance analyst will be impacted by the budget available to their team. This can range from no budget at all, right through to professional teams where hardware and software are available for staff and players.

No budget or limited budget available:

• Phones or tablets to film
• Free video software (e.g. iMovie)
• Free sharing software (e.g. WeTransfer)
• PDF reports via email or message app

Bigger budget available:

• Camera and drones to film
• Analysis software (e.g. Coach Logic, Hudl, Sportscode)
• Sharing portal (e.g. Coach Logic, Hudl)
• BI Tools (e.g. Tableau)

There are a range of tools available, no matter the budget. Communication with the coach will help establish priorities, and allow for a realistic plan to be created. Contact your local union to discover what tools they are using or reach out to other clubs in your competition to find out what solutions they have found.
