Sin bins (Yellow Card)

Law 9.29
- When a player is shown a yellow card, they shall be removed from the game immediately and must not return until the next time a replacement could be made (see above) after ten minutes of match time has elapsed (two minutes for Sevens).
Law 3.16
- If the yellow-carded player is a front row player the team shall be asked, at the next scrum, if they can continue with contested scrums. If a replacement is required by the team to ensure the team can continue with contested scrums, then this replacement must not happen until the next scrum. Discussions on the team’s options should happen as soon as possible after the player is yellow-carded.
- Yellow carded players must sit in a designated seat within the sideline area away from the team bench. The player should be permitted to stand and prepare to return to play within the final minute of the suspension period. The player may only return at times when a replacement can be made (see table above).
- For players who's yellow card spans half-time, the additional time elapsed after the designated half-time (40 minutes for Fifteens, Seven for Sevens) should be counted as part of the suspension.
