Insect Stings
A sting from a bee or wasp is initially painful, usually settling. Multiple stings may result in swelling.
- Reassure the casualty and if sting visible brush or scrape it away
- Elevate the stung area and apply a cold compress.
- If pain and swelling persists advise to seek further medical aid.
- Montor the casualty for signs of an allergic reaction .
Around the world there are various stings that may cause serious illness e.g. spiders, mosquitos etc. The first aid principles remain the same:
