Insect Stings

A sting from a bee or wasp is initially painful, usually settling. Multiple stings may result in swelling.

  1. Reassure the casualty and if sting visible brush or scrape it away
  2. Elevate the stung area and apply a cold compress.
  3. If pain and swelling persists advise to seek further medical aid.
  4. Montor the casualty for signs of an allergic reaction .

Around the world there are various stings that may cause serious illness e.g. spiders, mosquitos etc. The first aid principles remain the same:
