Deep neck stabilisation

Deep stabilitiy muscles help to control and stabilise the neck joints and it is therefor important to train these muscles to lesson the chance of injury.

Coaches should incorporate one or two exercises into their sessions in a progressive manner - once players master Level 1 activities, progress to Levels 2 and 3. Note that the activites can also be delivered:

  • as part of the warm up
  • as preparation for contact skills during the main body of the session
  • at home with friends/family.
