Sevens Conditioning
With a significant difference between the physiological demands of refereeing Fifteens and Sevens, it is crucial that Sevens Match Officials are conditioned to meet the demands to ensure optimal performance. A high priority should be put on high-intensity interval training, as this will prepare them for the high-intensity nature of Sevens and will ensure they build the capacity to tolerate the high-speed running demands. Endurance-based training will also play a key role in ensuring Match Officials have the aerobic capacity to recover between the high-intensity moments, while also being able to recover between multiple matches.
