Match official communication

Match officials use a wide range of tools to communicate during a Rugby match. The use of these tools, which of course will depend on the game situation in front of you, allows you to achieve three critical things in your capacity as referee. There are three ways the referee communicates:

  • Voice
  • Whistle
  • Signals

But first of all, referees need always be close to the action and position themselves in the best possible way.
