Who can be in the Technical Zone?

Fifteens

In World Rugby regulations, the following are permitted in the marked Technical Zone as set in Law:

A total of four per team are permitted.

The four must be made up of no more than two medically trained personnel and two nominated water carriers (who can be assistant coaches but under no circumstances can the Head Coach be part of the nominated four).

No other person or player should be permitted in the Technical Zones.

Sevens

In World Rugby 7s competitions, each team is allowed to have the following personnel in the Technical Zone:

• A Coach,
• A Team Manager,
• Medical Practitioner and
• Five reserve players
• One other designated person (who can be another coach/physio/medic).

Three of those can also then act as water carriers. The Team Manager or the Head Coach cannot act as a water carrier.
