MDD qualifications

What are the minimum qualifications of a MDD?

A MDD must have, as a minimum, a medical degree. The MDD must also have completed this World Rugby online Match Day Medical staff module which provides an understanding of the duties of a MDD and outlines the relevant Laws, Regulations and Guidelines related to medical match issues.

What are the ideal qualifications of a MDD?

In addition to the minimum standards, the MDD would ideally have experience as a Team Physician, have a post-graduate qualification in sports, orthopaedic or emergency medicine and hold any minimum required, local jurisdictional qualifications related to immediate care.

Ideally, all Match Day Medical staff will have Level 2 World Rugby Immediate Care in Rugby accreditation or have completed an equivalent course.
