Rugby conditioning for the child

This module will introduce how to train and develop the important components of fitness for rugby for children. Physiological considerations when designing training plans for children will be highlighted.

The importance of play and enjoyment will be emphasised as overly formal and structured training may result in the child not enjoying learning to play the game.

This module will examine speed, endurance, and agility development in children.

The module will highlight how children respond to training and identify key considerations when trying to develop these qualities in children.

By the end of this module the coach should be aware of key physiological considerations when trying to develop physical components of fitness in children. Practical examples of activities to use in coaching sessions will be provided.
