Catastrophic haemorrhage control

In the very rare circumstance of a player presenting with catastrophic haemorrhage the application of a pressure dressing and the use an arterial tourniquet (limb trauma) should be considered in attempt to stop the bleeding before moving on to assess and maintain the player’s airway. Haemostatic agents e.g. CELOX gauze, can also be used to encourage clot formation and reduce the bleeding.
