Long Bone fractures

Fractures of long bones have the potential to haemorrhage significant volumes of blood e.g. Femur can be approximately 1.5 litres. The realignment and splinting of fractures is the mainstay of reducing further haemorrhage. This can be achieved using devices such as the a femoral traction splint e.g. a Kendrick traction splint
