4. Game-Embedded Agility

Game-embedded agility brings movement skills into the heart of rugby gameplay, allowing female players to apply change of direction and reactive agility in realistic, competitive scenarios. This phase emphasises the transference of technical agility work into small-sided games and contact-prep activities, where decision-making, timing, and physical control are tested under match-like conditions. These drills not only reinforce agility in context but also provide coaches with valuable opportunities to observe how players adapt and execute movement strategies during dynamic play.

Weekly Integration of Speed and Agility Training

It is crucial that both speed and agility training are incorporated throughout the training week. Components of speed and agility training can be incorporated into the pre-training warm-up or as standalone training segments. It is important that all aspects of speed and agility are periodised across the week to ensure that athletes get exposure to all relevant stimuli.
