The gym-based training programme

In the Pre-Level 1 Adult module and the Programme Management section of this Pre-Level 2 module, examples of 4 and 8-week long gym-based programmes for strength, power and hypertrophy are provided.

Principles of training, guidelines and acute training variables have also been introduced previously.

In this section we will examine some of the key training session design factors used to build an organised and efficient training session and thus a successful gym-based training programme. The importance of cueing in resistance training and the potential use of strongman type resistance training for players is highlighted.
