Gym-based training session design factors
When designing a gym-based training session or programme, there are many things coaches must consider. The principles of training, examined previously, are the foundations upon which all programmes should be built. The FITT principles, also examined previously, (Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type of training) are also extremely important. However, when the coach is designing a gym-based training programme, there are factors of individual training session design that must be planned to allow for a productive session and an overall successful training programme. These factors include:
- timing of the session
- format of the session
- exercise selection
- exercise order
- exercise number
- rest periods.
